Good art CAN equal Mary sue

EDIT 28/06/11 This stamp is not regarding the fans who defend the artist solely on the purpose of how good they percieve the artist's work to be in terms of technical ability or appeal of the design of a character or artwork. I do have a problem with fans who automatically jump on people who comment on a popular artist's character being mary sue and cruxify them without backing up their arguments to show how it is not mary-sue. Saying that the commenter is 'jealous' is a cop out way of dealing with it and using the reason of 'mary-sues are subjective' to argue against the commenter and call them out as being wrong simply on that basis just becomes a strawman argument. Yes, the term mary-sue is fuzzy. Yes it is ultimately, subjective. But this also means that the commenter's criticism is also warranted, especially given that most specifically highlight the criteria and reasons as to why the artist's character seems mary-sue. END

Something I created from a while ago but never bothered posting up...I've got two other stamps not sure if I'm bothered to upload them. Previously I had searched for some stampes with slogans similar to this but could find none so decided to make it heard myself.

Eck, cause so many people think good art always equals originality and great characters. Don't get me wrong I'm certainly NOT saying that all good artists create mary sues, but I'm saying don't always judge the artist's characters, creations, stories simply by their art.
I've seen plenty of developing artists who've created sophisticated humane and non mary sue characters as opposed to the more experienced artists who have yet to design a decent, meaty character. You can flame me if you want, but my message out to you is this - don't judge a character by its art.

Examples? Refer to people like Clamp - sure their art's stunning but full of mary and gary stus trooping around. Their plots are often cliched and not much to grip on either @_@
